Students from 31 countries join Mid-Autumn reading session at YMU
On September 26, 2025, international students from 31 countries studying in China—including Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Benin, Yemen, Sri Lanka, and Armenia—jointly participated in the Mid-Autumn Festival-themed reading session titled "Full Moon for Mid-Autumn, Lanterns Reflect Reunion" at Yunnan Minzu University. They gained a deep understanding of the spiritual core of China’s excellent traditional culture, which revolves around "reunion", "harmony" and "common prosperity".
At the start of the event, Chinese student representatives served as "Mid-Autumn Festival Culture Guides". Through vivid PPT presentations and interesting short videos, they led international students into the cultural world of the Mid-Autumn Festival, a traditional Chinese holiday—extending from the ancient legend of "Chang’e Flying to the Moon" to the modern "moon-chasing history" of the Chang’e-6 mission’s lunar far-side sampling.
Later, international students from various countries sat together to discuss the cultural customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival and elaborate on the festive connotation of "reunion". In addition, they made handmade lanterns: cute rabbit lanterns, elegant round moon lanterns, traditional hexagonal palace lanterns, and meaningful butterfly lanterns. At the end of the event, the international students tasted delicious mooncakes while sharing festive celebrations from their home countries, appreciating and embracing the unique charm of different cultures.
This reading session was not only a vivid experiential lesson on traditional Chinese festivals, but also a grand Mid-Autumn cultural feast. It deeply engraved the beautiful wish of "May we all be blessed with longevity; though far apart, we still share the beauty of the moon together" in the hearts of international students, enhancing their profound friendship and solidarity.
