Entrance Requirements

If you want to study a specific course in a Chinese university, you should check whether you are eligible to the application requirements of the course when you are on the page of program details, for each course at different Chinese universities has its own requirements for entry.

According to the degree level of the course, the requirements of most Chinese universities are:

Non-degree courses

Pre-university courses

High school diploma or the equivalent (e.g. A-level)

 Chinese Language and Culture

1. High school diploma or the equivalent (e.g. A-level)

2. The applicant should be at least 18 years old


Degree Courses

For all degree courses in Chinese universities, there are age limits-18 or above 18 years old, for international students. Besides, the requirements of educational background are different depending on the level of degree.

1. Bachelor’s degree course

English-Medium

1.High school diploma or the equivalent (e.g. A-level)

2.Recognized English Proficiency Tests results such as those of the TOEFL or IELTS(You don’t need to provide the above results if you are an English native speaker or you have an academic degree taught in English)

Chinese-Medium

1. High school diploma or college certificate

2. HSK results should be at level 3 or above, or the passing of the university's entrance examination



2. Master’s degree courses

English-Medium

1. Completion of a Bachelor's degree course

2. One or two letters of recommendation from professors

3. Recognized English Proficiency Tests results such as those of the TOEFL or IELTS(You don’t need to provide the above results if you are an English native speaker or you have an academic degree taught in English)

Chinese-Medium

1. Completion of a Bachelor's degree course

2. One or two letters of recommendation from professors

3. HSK results should be at level 6 or above, or the passing of the university's entrance examination



3. Doctoral degree courses

English-Medium

1. Completion of a Bachelor's degree course or the equivalent

2. At least two letters of recommendation from professors

3. Recognized English Proficiency Tests results such as those of the TOEFL or IELTS, (You don’t need to provide the above results if you are an English native speaker or you have an academic degree taught in English)

Chinese-Medium

1. Completion of a Master's degree course

2. At least two letters of recommendation from professors

3. HSK results should be at level 6 or above, or the passing of the university's entrance examination
