HUST Welcomes 1,600+ Students from 60 Countries for 2026 Global Summer School
Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) has welcomed 1,662 students from more than 130 partner institutions across 60 countries and regions for its 2026 Global Summer School.
The programme, which began on July 5, has brought together international students for academic learning, practical activities, cultural experiences and international exchange at HUST in Wuhan, China.
The 2026 Global Summer School has featured 33 thematic camps, covering areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, medicine, mathematics, mechanics, aeronautics and sustainable development. Students have been able to explore these subjects through lectures, discussions and practical learning activities.
Beyond the classroom, participants have visited laboratories, engineering facilities, companies and medical institutions. These activities have given students opportunities to see how research and technology are being developed and applied in China.
The programme has also included activities introducing participants to Chinese culture. Students have taken part in Chinese language learning and cultural activities such as calligraphy, paper-cutting and Go, while also experiencing life on a Chinese university campus.
International academic exchange has been another part of the programme. HUST has invited 191 scholars and experts from 72 institutions in 21 countries and regions to participate in lectures, discussions and other academic activities during the summer school.
Launched in 2023, the HUST Global Summer School has continued to expand its international participation and academic coverage. For students considering studying in China, the programme provides an opportunity to experience HUST's academic environment and Wuhan before making longer-term study plans.
HUST is one of China's major research universities and offers a wide range of programmes for international students, including English-taught degree programmes. Its location in Wuhan also places students in one of China's major centres for education, technology and industry.
For international students interested in studying in China, programmes such as the HUST Global Summer School can provide a first-hand introduction to university study, research and student life in China.
