Welcome to Guangxi Medical University（GXMU)Guangxi Medical University (GXMU) is located in Nanning City, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, backing on the picturesque Qingxiu Hill and standing by the beautiful Nanhu Lake and mighty Yongjiang River. Established in 1934, GXMU is one of the oldest medical education institutes in China. GXMU has a beautiful campus with a total space of over 400,000 square meters which provides the teachers and students with an ideal environment and conditions for teaching, studying and living.  GXMU consists of 18 schools and colleges, inclusive of School of Pre-clinical Sciences and the First School of Clinical Sciences and 8 affiliated teaching hospitals such as the First Affiliated Hospital and the Affiliated Cancer Hospital etc. GXMU has a strong teaching staff, of whom 161 have senior academic titles, 477 have associate academic titles and 33 are qualified doctoral tutors. GXMU offers nine 5-year undergraduate specialties, including clinical medicine, preventive medicine, stomatology, pharmacy, nursing, etc. and seven 3-year college specialties, including nursing, pharmacy, community medical care and cosmetology etc. At present, there are over 7,000 doctoral students, postgraduate students, undergraduates and 3-year college students in GXMU. In the year 2000, GXMU began to enroll 7-year undergraduates who are to be conferred on master's degree after finishing their academic studies in clinical medicine. Since its establishment, GXMU has turned out approximately 100,000 medical graduates.
GXMU consists of 55 teaching departments offering 90 courses and 34 specialties in 22 disciplines are entitled to confer master's degree. Pediatrics, human anatomy and histo-embryology, oncology and pharmacology are entitled to confer doctor's degree. The first mobile station of postdoctoral scientific research in clinical medicine was set up in GXMU in the year 2001.
GXMU has set up 7 research institutes involving cancer prevention and treatment, cardiovascular diseases, snake venom and so on, a number of research departments, inclusive of pediatric hemoglobinopathy, a Guangxi-top-level medical scientific experiment center and an experimental animal breeding center. Five disciplines of human anatomy and histo-embryology and pharmacology in the School of Pre-clinical Sciences and internal medicine, surgery and oncology in the School of Clinical Sciences are key disciplines of medical studies in Guangxi. Since 1978, GMU has been awarded 8 prizes of national level for its scientific researches and discoveries and 202 at the ministerial and provincial levels.
GXMU has a library with a large collection of books and other publications. The library has been computerized with over 400 kinds of database in foreign languages connected with Internet.
 Medical literature can be easily accessed to and the information about books and magazines from home and abroad can be found through Internet in the electronic reading room. GMU publishes three medical journals, namely Journal of Guangxi Medical University (bimonthly), Abstracts of Chinese Tumor Diseases (quarterly) and Journal of Coloproctological Surgery (quarterly). The Internet operation center connects all subordinate units of GXMU and links them with the outside world.
International exchanges and scientific collaboration of GXMU have been increasing extensively. Since the reform and opening to the outside world, foreign scholars from many countries and regions have been to GXMU for academic exchanges and visits. Meanwhile, GXMU successively sent over 400 of its staff members to over 20 countries and regions for studies, scientific cooperation, international conferences and lectures.
At present, the whole staff and all the students of GXMU are striving to enhance the level of management and colligated capabilities of GXMU.
