Introduction to the College of Electro-Mechanical Engineering

As the predecessor of College of Electro-Mechanical Engineering (CEME), Department of Chemical Machinery is one of the three eldest departments in Qingdao University of Science and Technology (QUST). So CEME has the same long history as QUST.

CEME now has 7 undergraduate majors including Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Materials Form and Control Engineering, Industry Design, Processing Equipment and Control Engineering, Thermal Energy and Power Engineering, Oil-Gas Storage and Transportation Engineering, Ship and Marine Engineering; 14 postgraduate majors including Mechanical Manufacture and Automation, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Design and Theory, Vehicle Engineering, Engineering Thermophysics, Thermal Power Engineering, Power Machinery and Engineering, Fluid Machinery and Engineering, Refrigeration and Cryogenic Engineering, Chemical Process Equipment, Engineering Mechanics, Precision Instrument and Machinery, Materialogy and Materials Processing Engineering; one PhD major of Chemical Process Equipment and Mechanical Design and Theory.

At present CEME has 2800 undergraduate students, 160 postgraduate students. The College now has 149 teachers, among them 8 are PhD supervisors, 23 professors, 45 associate professors, 36 of them have Doctor degree.

CEME always considers the teaching as the center of all works. It now has one excellent course of Nation, 4 excellent courses of Shandong Province, 7 excellent courses of QUST. The key lab of polymer materials processing machinery of Shandong Province sponsored by the Eleventh Five-Year Plan and the center of basic experimental teaching for mechanical course of Shandong Province are established at CEME.

CEME thinks highly of the scientific research works. It has undertaken more than 110 research programs, among them 10 are national important programs and 10 are national natural science fund programs. Research funding is up to 15 million yuan.

CEME makes an important contribution to the development of mechanical industry, especially to rubber machinery industry. CEME is good at international exchange and cooperation. It organizes international academic conferences many times and cooperates with Pardaborn University of Germany to establish the Sino-German College of Science and Technology. The Training Center of International Mechanical Engineers is set up by the cooperation of CEME and ALPS Company of Japan. Now CEME is running joint-education programs with Jeonju Univeristy and Hanyang University of Korea to cultivate international engineering and technical personnel.
