Summer Course for Intensive Spoken Chinese (4 weeks)

This course is intended to train the communication skills of foreign students and their listening and speaking ability by focusing on topics closely related to their life, study and work in China through exercising the necessary grammar and vocabulary, as well as basic expressions and rules used in the their communication activities.

Study Duration

The teaching period of this course is scheduled for four weeks, from Jul. 8th to Aug. 2nd; every day is four academic hours (Each academic hour is 45 minutes). 

This Course is divided into A to F six levels (Textbooks might be subject to change due to the actual situation in teaching.)

LEVEL A: Target students: students at zero level

• Description about teaching: Phonetic training, frequently-used vocabulary and sentence patterns, communication skills in their daily life and study.

LEVEL B: Target students: beginners mastering about 400 words

• Description about teaching: frequently-used vocabulary and sentence patterns, communication skills in their daily life and study.
• Textbooks: Quick Success in Oral Chinese: Introduction (second)

LEVEL C: Target students: having a basic ability to listen and speak, mastering the easy sentences and a vocabulary around 800

• Description about teaching: frequently-used vocabulary, special patterns, clauses and communication skills in their daily life, study and society.
• Textbooks: Quick Success in Oral Chinese: Basic

LEVEL D: Target students: having a basic ability to listen and speak, mastering the basic sentence patterns, clauses and a vocabulary around 1500

• Description about teaching: the essential Chinese grammar, communication skills in their daily life, study, society and work.
• Textbooks: Quick Success in Oral Chinese: Enhancement

LEVEL E: Target students: students having a basic Chinese listening and speaking capability and mastering the general sentence patterns, key compound sentences and with a vocabulary around 2,000 up to 2,500.

• Description about teaching: the essential Chinese grammar and vocabulary, the special patterns used in oral expression and the general or relatively-complicated communication skills in communication activities related to their study, sociality and work.
• Textbooks: Quick Success in Oral Chinese for Intermediate

LEVEL F: Target students: students having a good capability of listening and speaking, especially expressing ideas in fluent and felicitous Chinese, with a good knowledge on the essential Chinese grammar and vocabulary around 2,500 up to 3,000

• Description about teaching: the relatively-complicated Chinese grammar, the relatively-complicated communication skills in communication activities related to their study, work, society, culture, etc; training of their comprehensive capabilities of idea expression, analysis, judgment and pronunciation.
• Textbooks: Quick Success in Oral Chinese for Advanced

Textbook and Elective course

• Textbook: Approx. RMB 100 per person 
• Elective course: RMB 300 per person per course

Extracurricular activities (The fee may be changed depending on the current market situation)

• One day in Zhouzhuang (July.13, RMB 300 (Approx. US $ 48) per person.)
• Two-days trip to Hangzhou & Wuzhen (July.20 –July.21, RMB 750 (Approx. US $ 120) per person.)
• One day in Soochow (July.27, RMB 380 (Approx. US $ 60) per person.)
• Acrobatics Show (Jul 17, RMB 180 (Approx. US $ 30) per person per time)

Accommodation

• Lian Xing Building (Single Room): RMB 120/day(Approx. US$19) (Private bathroom, air-conditioner, TV, Telephone, Internet access)
• No.9 Dormitory Building (Single Room): RMB 130/day(Approx. US$21) (Public bathroom, air-conditioner, TV, Telephone, microwave oven, refrigerator, Internet access )

※ Room reservation should be made when application. If dormitories are full, we do not accept any room reservation. The accommodation fees should be paid on the registration day and it is nonrefundable.
