Study in Hangzhou

Situated along the South-east coast of China and at the southern end of the Grand Canal of China, Hangzhou
is not only known for its beautiful landscape and comfortable climate, but also for its talents. Since ancient

Lu Xun (September 25, 1881 – October 19, 1936), the leading figure of modern Chinese literature 

 

Zhu Ziqing (November 22, 1898 - August 12, 1948), a renowned Chinese poet and essayist

Ye Shengtao (28 October 1894 — 16 February 1988), a prominent author, educator and publisher

 

Mao Dun (July 4, 1896–March 27, 1981) , a 20th century Chinese novelist, cultural critic, and journalist

 

The latter include the famous scholars of Lu Xun (Zhou Shuren), Zhu Ziqing and Ye Shengtao. They started 
schools or gave lectures in Hangzhou. Apart from them are the well known men of letters, for example,
Mao Dun.

Today, Hangzhou has approximately seven million inhabitants and boasts at least 20 universities, an important 
emerging technology industry, and temples, pagodas, and museums acclaimed throughout China and the world.
