College of Humanities and Social Sciences

College of Humanities and Social Sciences of Beijing University of Technology (hereinafter referred to as ‘College of Humanities’) was established in March, 2000, which consolidated by the original departments of Department of Social Sciences, Institute of literature, Teaching and Research Section of Art, and Psychological Counseling Center. The well-known sociologists, Professor Lu Xueyi, is the college dean. Our college has six teaching units in Marxist theory studies, social work, advertising, Chinese language and culture, Arts, and psychology. And also, we have several research institutions: the Institute of Science, Technology and Society, Institute of Sociology, Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries, Research Center for Human Resources, Research Center for Policies’ Analysis in Domestic and International Science and Technology, Research Center for Social Policies’ Studies and Evaluation, and Modern Advertising Research Center.

The faculty of 85 has 72 instructors, including 9 professors, 28 associate professors. The College offers four Bachelor programs: Chinese Language and Culture, Social Work, Sociology and Advertising, And also offeres three Master’s degree in Sociology, Philosophy of science and technology, Research of Chinese Marxism. The major research interests include social structure, social policy, social work, communication studies, science, technology and society (STS), human resource development and management, cultural undertaking and creative industries, and Marxist theory.
