Acupuncture and Tuina College

Acupuncture and Tuina College, formerly known as Department of Acupuncture and Tuina, began accepting students in 1981 and in 1983 formally approved by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Education to set up the department and in 2003 changed its name to College of Acupuncture and Tuina.

There are 6 teaching and researching departments, an acupuncture and Tuina practice center, an advanced massage training school and a State Administration of TCM Research Laboratory, which is called Acupuncture Electrophysiology Laboratory. There are various teaching and research instruments, whose value is 120 million Yuan .In September 2007, the center placed a fund of 3.69 million Yuan to build a laboratory. There are 33 full-time teachers, including 22 seniors, 2 selected provincial staffs called Millions of Works, 7 PhD degree, 18 Master degree, 2 PhD supervisors, and 2 master supervisors. In 1986, the college received a master's degree granting rights, and in 2003 begun jointly with Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor Training. Recently there is an acupuncture and Tuina professor, 3 specialties, a straight entrance to the undergraduate direction. There are provincial-level key disciplines, a provincial model professional, a provincial quality course, and 3 courses of outstanding university level.

The college has undertaken 10 topics at all levels in the past five years, published more than 150 teaching posts and research papers editor, deputy editor of 10 textbooks for the State, the senate of 19 textbooks, and the results have been teaching all levels of education and multimedia courseware Awarded 8 Items.

The college has in 20 years of undergraduate education fully implemented the Party's education policy, focusing on improving teaching quality, standardizing curriculum construction, forming the three major characteristics: Acupuncture primarily becoming the clinical teaching curriculum in the country, acquiring the provincial second prize for outstanding teaching; First opened program of Acupuncture and Message(taught in Japanese) in 1984 around the country, winning the national second-class and provincial first-class Excellent Teaching Achievement Award; and First launched in 1983, the National Acupuncture and experimental teaching and research capability, named the National Teaching Achievement Award for outstanding teaching achievements.

The college prescribes standardized acupuncture meridians and acupuncture research, Meridian Research, study of the mechanism of acupuncture and mechanism of massage therapy as the main research direction, which has undertaken national and provincial scientific research projects and 23 bureau-level research and won 19 awards at various levels, 7 patents above the provincial level, and in the past five years more than 200 articles published in scientific papers.
