The EMA program was established in 2005 by the School of International Relations and Public Affairs (SIRPA). It provides an opportunity of studying the political, diplomatic, and administrative reality of China for foreign students. All academic courses are taught in English. Our mission is to enhance both the students' analytical skills and their knowledge of China, with a purpose to build up a solid foundation for professional career. In 2009, ten students from nine countries got their MA degrees. The program admits both degree and non-degree students according to a competitive basis.

The EMA degree program requires a two-year full-time study. For non-degree students, they can study for one or two semesters. We offer courses including Political Development in Modern China, Chinese Diplomacy, Chinese Public Administration, International Politics, Chinese Economy, Chinese Modern History, International Relations in East Asia, Political Economy in East Asia, Research Methods, and Seminar Series on Chinese and World Affairs. The Faculty members have a diverse background and some of them received their Ph.D. degrees abroad.

Fudan University offers Fudan Excellent Student Scholarship annually to second-year foreign students based on a university-wide competition. Those students that are self-supported are qualified for competing for this fellowship according to their academic performance. Fellowship application is made in September after the registration for the second year. Every year 10 graduate students get a scholarship of RMB15, 000 for excellence in academic study. Twenty students get a scholarship of RMB 5,000 for excellent performance in specific areas.

The school sets Excellent Performance Scholarship and awards two students every year in October, starting in 2007. The prize is 5,000RMB each. The Scholarship applies to second-year students who are not awarded the University Scholarship. The Scholarship is awarded according to the voluntary application, the academic performance (weight 0.8) and the service to the community (weight 0.2).
