Program Description

Compulsory Courses

Comprehensive (Elementary Chinese), Listening (Elementary Chinese), Reading (Elementary Chinese), Conversation (Elementary Chinese), Comprehensive (Intermediate Chinese), Listening and Conversation (Intermediate Chinese), Comprehensive (Elementary Japanese), Comprehensive (Advanced Chinese), Japanese-Chinese Translation, Japanese-Chinese Interpretation, Comprehensive (Advanced Chinese), Japanese-Chinese Interpretation, Japanese-Chinese Translation, etc.

Optional Courses

Chinese Writing Fundamentals, Proper Chinese Pronunciation, Reading and Writing Chinese Characters, Reading Chinese Economy and Trade, Introduction to Modern Chinese Characters (early selective course for the Chinese Instruction major), Fundamentals of Modern Chinese Grammar

Entry Requirements

Applicant should be a senior high school graduate or with equivalent schooling in the age bracket of 18-50,with an HSK certificate (level 3 or above).
Those who have basic knowledge of Chinese language without any HSK certificate should take the HSK test at BLCU. Only qualified students can be admitted as B.A. students. Those who fail the test shall be enrolled as language students to study in a foundation class for half a year. After they finish the half year of study and pass HSK Level 3, they can further their studies as B.A. students. HSK test applicants need to submit three passport photos along with other required documents. The test fee is RMB 250.

Application Materials

1. Certificate of HSK
For applicants of Chinese Language major and Chinese Language and Culture major:Level 3 or above. For those applying to take classes with Chinese students: HSK Level 6 or above

2. Photocopy of valid passport
With name, passport number & expiration date, and photo included

3. Passport photo
A recent passport-sized photo of the applicant

4. Certificate/diploma of highest education
Graduation certificate in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.

5. Academic transcript of highest education
Original transcript of academic record.

6. Valid identity document of the applicant's emergency contact person
A photocopy of the ID of the emergency contact (can be a license, official ID of Chinese citizen or foreigner).

7. Letter of recommendation
Reference letter from applicants' former teacher.
