Program Description

Program Objective

This program is designed to bring up senior specialized statistical talents who possess good basic knowledge and statistics theories, methods and application skills, and are well trained in solving practical problems in economy and management. The graduates are not only competent for basic statistical works in companies and government, but also eligible for market survey, economic information analysis, decision making and other economic managements. They would also been exposed to China’s politics, economy and culture so that they can participate and contribute to friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and their own country.

Students in this program mainly learn the basic theories, knowledge and methods of statistics. They will be provided with sound training in computer and will have the abilities to conduct research, teach, solve practical problems in economy and management fields.

Introduction to Statistics, Business Statistics, Statistical Software Package, Econometrics, Marketing Survey, Management Decisions and Analysis, Multivariate Statistical Analysis, Marketing Research, etc.

Elective courses

Monetary and Banking, Financial Management, Firm Theory, Investments in Securities, Introduction to Insurance and Actuarial, Risk Management, International E-Commerce, Chinese Economic Statistical Analysis, International Economic Statistics, National Accounting, Enterprise Economic Statistics, Social Statistics, Financial Statistics, Technical Analysis of Financial Markets, Bayesian Statistics, Data Mining, etc.

Length, Credits and Degree

The length of curriculum is normally four years. Minimum credits for graduation: 130 credits. Qualified student will be granted Bachelor Degree of Economics in the field of Business Statistics.

Instruction Language

■ All the courses are delivered in English except some of Chinese language courses.

■ Dissertation is required to be written in English

Entry Requirements

1. High school graduate or above, or have passed Grade Twelve (10+2)/FSc./A Level/WAEC or equivalent.

2. Aged 18 or above and with a good health

3. No Chinese-citizen with foreign passport

Application Materials

1. Photocopy of valid passport
With photo, passport number & expiration date and name included.

2. Passport-sized photo
A passport-sized photo taken recently of the applicant.

3. Graduation certificate of high school
Graduation certificate should be in Chinese or English.If not, it should be translated into Chinese or English and be notarized.

4. Academic transcript of high school

5. English proficiency test certificate
For example, IELTS or TOEFL, only for applicant whose native language is not English.
