Home to many well-known architects like Li Xinggang, the chief architect of China's part of the National Stadium (Bird’s Nest) and Zhao Xiaojun, the Chinese General Designer of the National Aquatics Center (Water Cube), the Architecture related programs at TJU have a high reputation of many years' standing for good quality.

 

The three professional master’s programs in Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning are designed for qualified graduates wishing to practice architecture, LA or UP at a professional level. Students will learn from TJU Architecture internationally recognized academics and renowned adjunct and visiting architects and professors, and will engage in course projects that connect with local and international communities.

 

Students will also have the opportunity to hold an internship at world renowned architectural design firms with supervision from leading architects. The cooperative design firms include Tianjin Urban Planning & Design Institute, Tianjin University Research Institute of Architectural Design & Urban Planning, Chinese Architectural Design and Research Group, Archiland International, Beijing Institute of Architectural Design and so on.

 

The master program in Architecture was recognized through in all countries that signed the Carberra Accord, which makes the graduates qualified to apply professional certificates in those countries.

1. Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health;

2. The requirements for applicants’ degree and age are that applicants must:

Be a Bachelor degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for the Master’s programs.

1. Notarized certificate of the highest diploma. If applicants are university students, they must provide an official pre-graduation certificate showing their student status and stating expected graduation date, the original certificate should be provided after admission. If applicants are employed, a proof of employment is to be submitted with the application. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English, the original and a copy must be submitted;

2. Notarized copy of the academic transcripts: Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;

3. A study or research plan not less than 800 words written in English or Chinese. All applicants must submit a study or research plan for the study period in China; 

4. Two recommendation letters: Applicants need to submit two recommendation letters in English or Chinese from two professors or associate professors; 

5. Applicants for art studies are requested to submit two sketches of the applicants’ own works;

6. Photocopy of passport;

7. HSK certificate, a minimum requirement of HSK 4 (Score 180 or above) for applying science and engineering or HSK5 (Score 180 or above) for applying liberal arts; If the applicant’s Chinese proficiency has not yet met the requirement of admission, he/she can study Chinese Language at Tianjin university for one year and obtain the required certificate of HSK; Applicants who want to join in the programs taught in English must submit the certificate of TOEFL (Score 80 or above) or IELTS (Score 6.0 or above) (Not required for native English speakers);Applicants who don’t have one should submit an English Level Certificate or a self-introduction video which should be recorded in English for 3-5 minutes in duration.

8. Applicants who are not in China at present must submit Certificate of Non-Criminal Records.

9. Applicants who are now studying in China must submit Photocopy of Visa and Transfer Certificate from your present school in China.
