The College of Botany Science and Technology is developed from
Department of Agronomy, which was established in 1951 as the earliest
superior and backbone department in our university. For all these
years, with the Party’s educational policy, our teaching and
administrative staff has kept reforming, practicing and innovating, and
gets outstanding achievements in many aspects such as teaching,
science and research, and society-service. We have been awarded as
Advanced Groups in prospering Shandong province and Shandong people,
and in the discipline construction, science and research. Our college’s
general party branch has been awarded for many times as Advanced
General Party Branch.

Our college emphasizes very much on the construction of learning
and teaching atmosphere, and keeps cultivating practicing and
multi-skill students with the trinity of knowledge, ability and
quality. The employment rate of the four-year students is over 90%, the
rate of the student taking part in the postgraduate entrance
examination is over 70%, and we have cultivated lots of excellent
specialized technical talented students including 2 cadres in the
province government or the department of central government, 25
bureau-level cadres and more than 200 office-level cadres.

Now we have teaching and research offices of crops culture, crops
heredity breeding and agricultural ecology and cultivation, one
provincial key laboratory--dryland technology laboratory, a wheat
research office, a corn research office, a dryland research institute
and experimental station. There are 41 teaching and administrative
staff, who are excellent specialized, intelligent and keeping on
innovating.

We have undertaken more than 100 scientific research topics of our
country and our province, such as Topic No. 863, Topic No. 973,
Technical Attack, and topics of Natural Science Fund. As a result, we
have got more than 30 awards including 2 National Science and Technology
Progressive Prizes, 3 first-awards of Shandong Province Science and
Technology Progress. The 28 monographs and textbooks have been
published, and more than 500 papers have been published in the past 5
years. More than 20 varieties of wheat, corn and peanut have been
cultivated and approved, which has brought us much economic and social
benefit. Botany Science and Technology College, being an important
technological backing place for the production of grain and cooking oil
in Shandong province, has always contributed a lot to Shandong's
spanning from a big province to a strong province in agriculture.
