Cultivating Talent


Introduction

On March 2009, the total number of students registered was over 22,000 students, including 14,000 undergraduate students, more than 8,000 full time postgraduate students (about 2,200 in doctoral and 6,000 in Master's programs) and 500 international students. USTB attaches great importance to the overall development of students and provides a rich variety of extra-curricular activities ranging from science to sports, culture and the arts in order to fulfill students' high expectations of their campus life. USTB also values its international connections, and has so far entered into partnership with more than 80 foreign universities and institutes from different countries and districts, such as Aachen Technical University, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Oxford.
  
Since 2004, USTB has received more than 50 Teaching Achievement awards from the Ministry of Education or other Educational Institutes. Twenty-eight of its courses have been listed among National or Ministerial Excellent Courses. Four doctoral dissertations have been recognized as among the  "National Top 100 Doctoral dissertations". Students have distinguished themselves in competitions held at a national level. The science team won the second and fourth CCTV National Student Robot Design Competitions, and two student teams won First Prize in the final of the second National College Students Vehicle Competition. Sports teams have won many gold medals in competitions at all levels.

USTB attaches great importance to the overall development of students and provides a rich variety of extra-curricular activities ranging from science to sports, culture and the arts to fulfil students' high expectations of their campus life. Students have been able to improve their abilities remarkably. They have distinguished themselves in competitions held both at a national level and by the Beijing Municipality. The science team won the championship in the second and fourth "CCTV National Student Robot Design Competition". Sports teams have won many gold medals in competitions at all levels.
