Application Qualification

Short-term Programs
2011 Summer Short-Term Chinese Language Program A&B
1)Healthy foreigners who are willing to observe Chinese laws and regulations
2)Between 18 and 60 years old;
3)Students must hold medical and accident insurance for the duration of their studies at BNU.
 
Non-Degree Programs
Chinese Language Program &General / Senior Advanced Student Program
Language Student
Aged between 18 and 45; high school certificate or higher academic degree.
General Advanced Studies Student
Under 45 years old; HSK degree six or above; college sophomore or higher academic
standard.
Senior Advanced Studies Student
Under 55 years old; HSK degree six or above;
Master's degree obtained or equivalent academic degree or above.
 
Degree Programs
Undergraduate Prospectus for International Students at the College of Chinese Language & Culture
Between 18 and 40 years of age; high school diploma or higher academic degree certificate; good grades(average grade of B or higher.)
Note: Applicants under the age of 18 should submit original guardian notarizations in triplicate issued by Beijing Notary Public Office.

Undergraduate Programs
1)Between 18 and 40 years of age;
2)High school diploma or higher academic degree certificate;
3)Average grade B or higher.
4)Applicants under age 18 should submit original guardian notarizations (three copies)
issued by Beijing Notary Public Office.
 
Chinese proficiency requirements
HSK level six or above for liberal arts applicants; level three or above for science applicants and applicants to the Chinese Language Program designed for international students.
 
Graduate Programs
1)Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens holding a foreign passport under 50 years old. Former Chinese citizens naturalized into other nationalities are required to provide certification of the cancellation of their Hukou and ID card; this certification should be issued by Public Security Bureau.
2)Applicants for Masters degrees should hold a qualification which is equivalent (or above)to a Bachelors degree from a Chinese university. 
3)Applicants for PhD degrees should hold a qualification which is equivalent(or above) to a Masters degree from a Chinese university
4)Applicants must have a high Chinese level. In principle, applicants for liberal arts degrees must hold at least a HSK level 7 (or above); applicants for science and engineering degrees must hold at least a HSK level 5 (or above)
 
Master Program in English
1)Applicant should be non-Chinese citizens holding a foreign passport under 50 years old. General Advanced Studies Student

Notes
1)Those who apply for Chinese language study could provide the copy of graduation certificate and academic transcript,others should provide the originalor copies notarized by the issuing organization.
2)The teacher should sign for recommendation letters. Those who apply for General Advanced Studies and Senior Advanced Studies should get tworecommendation letters from two teachers.
3)The applicant who has studied in China should provide the Transfer Agreement or graduation certificate from the international students’ office of former school.
4)Materials must be in Chinese or English;
5)The application fee is non-refundable and the application materials will not be returned.

Degree Programmes

Undergraduate Programs
1)High school diploma(Chinese or English);
2)High school transcript(Chinese or English);
3)HSK certificate and a copy of transcript (Chinese Language Program applicants who do not have HSK certificate should provide a certification of at least 300 hours training in Chinese);
4)Two letters of recommendation from two teachers;
5)“A Letter of Transfer Permission” from a former university or college if the applicant is now studying in another university or college in China(Graduate Certificate);
6)Photocopy of passport (front page and visa page)
7)Two passport-sized photos.

4)Applicants for PhD programs should submit an original or notarized copy of their postgraduate results transcript, Masters degree certificate (in Chinese or English), and the Chinese abstract of their Masters degree dissertation
5)HSK certificate and results transcript or other documents which prove the applicant’s Chinese language proficiency
6)Two passport-sized photos (with the name of the applicant and the college/department applied for written on the back)
7)Photocopy of applicant’s passport (this must be a valid, ordinary passport);
8)Please submit any published academic papers, patents, or other academic achievements (originals or copies)
9)If you are a current student at one of China’s universities now please present a certificate agreeing to your transfer from its office of international students.

5) Applicants who are non-native English speaker should provide a certificate of their English proficiency (please refer to the department prospectus for more details).
6)Two passport-sized photos (with the name of the applicant and the college/department applied for written on the back)
7)Photocopy of applicant’s passport (this must be a valid, ordinary passport);
8)Please submit any published academic papers, patents, or other academic achievements (originals or copies)
