Introduction
The Information Management and Information Systems degree is designed to equip students with skills, knowledge and understanding relevant to the field of e-finance and e-business.
What knowledge and skills will I acquire?
By the time you graduate, you should:
1. understand information management and information systems and how they may be applied to e-finance and e-business
2. be able to understand and apply a range of accounting and quantitative methods to describe and model financial products
3. know how to develop and apply e-finance software
4. have a broad understanding of business and economic principles
What are my career prospects?
Graduates are equipped to pursue both technical and managerial careers within the IT and financial services industries. The programme also provides a sound basis for further graduate level study.
What will I study?
At level 1, you will develop a strong foundation through the study of a combination of computing, economic and finance, and mathematics and statistics:
5. Java programming ? databases ? mathematical reasoning, logic and problem solving
6. economic principles
7. finance
8. experimental methods and human-centric computing
9. statistics

At level 2, you will develop your knowledge of financial analysis and management and also learn about:
1. corporate social responsibility
2. e-business systems
3. database development and design, and
4. software engineering
 
In the final year, you will undertake a research project, spanning both semesters. Alongside your project, you will develop your technical and business knowledge through the study of:
1. business finance
2. semi-structured databases
3. technologies for e-commerce
4. e-Business models and strategies

The University accepts a wide variety of school, college and foundation qualifications such as A-Level, AS-Level, IB and other equivalent overseas qualifications. All students must have acceptable English language qualifications to study at the University. Various English qualifications are acceptable including:

IELTS: 5.5 for year 1 entry , or 6.5 for advanced standing; or
TOEFL 520 (paper-based), or 190 (computer-based) or 75 (iBT) for year 1 entry; or
TOEFL 570 (paper-based), or 230 (computer-based) or 88 (iBT) for advanced standing.
