In order to enhance the status of education of the Chinese classics, and to push forward the international academic exchange, the Master Degree Program has been designed in a welcome circumstance.

Referring to the educational system, our school provides two kinds of M.A. programs to students hitherto. The two-year program differs in that the students will get their M.A. degree from RUC upon finishing the graduate courses.

Currently our faculty offer courses in multiple areas of specialization, which include: Pre-modern Chinese History, Pre-modern Chinese Literature, Premodern Chinese Philosophy, Languages in China, Inner Asia Studies.
 
Courses
The students who are in the two-year program requires that every student complete a total of 32 credits of course work to obtain the M.A degree, including 28 credits for required courses and 4 credits for elective courses at least.

Individual Research
The faculty consists of the professors mainly from School of Chinese Classics, and partially from School of Literature, School of History and School of Philosophy. Based on the student's academic interests, the advisor directs and helps the student with textual research.

Thesis
The M.A. candidates in the two year program are required to finish the relevant thesis on a timely fashion. After completing the course work with satisfying grades, the students should start their research and writing. Under the supervision of a professor in the student's major field, graduate student must complete the thesis in either Chinese or English independently. The thesis ought to fulfill the requirements for a Master degree and represent the academic quality. All students must abide by the academic ethics and regulation. The department will not tolerate any forms of plagiarizing. No thesis is required for the
students who are in the one-year program. No M.A. degree will be awarded to those students either.

2.  Hold a Bachelor degree or above
3.  With recommendations of two associate professors or higher, providing a certificate of competence in English

A passport-sized photo taken recently of the applicant.

3.  Bachelor's degree diploma
Graduation certificate should be in Chinese or English.If not, it should be translated into Chinese or English and be notarized.

5.  Two recommendation letters(optional)
From professor,associate professor or equivalents.

6.  Certificate of English proficiency test
IELTS or TOEFl will only be required if the applicant is not a native English speaker.

7.  Personal Statement

A personal statement indicating education and working experience, research achievements, plans and personal development objectives after graduation.
