Program Highlights

This major aims at encouraging the students’ all-round development of morality, intelligence and physique, cultivating their understanding of natural science, humanities and social science, raising their knowledge of basic computer science theory, software engineering and applications, and developing their capability of software development, their preliminary experiences in software implementation as well as project planning and organization. The senior application-oriented personnel can be engaged in software engineering research, software design and developing, software project management and service.

 Program Description:

The major mainly study natural science, humanities and social science, computing science, as well as related basic theory and knowledge of software engineering, and have the basic training in software engineering. They will own the preliminary ability and experiences of developing software, organizing software development project, the basic engineering quality, the innovative and creative sense, the competitiveness and the teamwork spirit, and the foreign language proficiency. The graduates should obtain the following aspects of knowledge and ability:

1. The graduates should master the basic knowledge of humanities and social science, have the high quality of  humanities and social science, and possess good professional ethics, sound psychological quality and strong social responsibility;

2. The graduates should master the knowledge of mathematics, related natural science, system science and as well as some particular knowledge of economics and management which are needed for being engaged in occupations related to the major ;

3. The graduates should master the basic theoretical knowledge of software engineering and the expertise, and having the acquaintance with the approaches and techniques of software requirements analyzing, designing, implementing, testing, maintaining, as well as of software process management;

4. The graduates should have the ability of solving problems by using the learned knowledge, approaches and techniques obtained along the systematical basic preliminary training  of software engineering, gain the experience of participating in real software development projects, possess the professional capability required as a software engineer during engineering practice, and own the capacity to design, develop software with the utilization of various software engineering tools and to compose standardized system documentation;

5. The graduates should comprehend the forefronts technology and the development trends of the software industry, know about the laws, regulations, policies related to the major, and own innovation sense and capability in basic research and development, engineering design as well as practices;

6. The graduates should comprehend the importance of teamwork, and have the independent working ability, the team coordination ability, the interpersonal and communication skills as well as the organizational and administration ability;

7. The graduates should be proficient in foreign language to read the specialized literature, and have the international perspective, the cross-cultural communication ability and the competitiveness as well as cooperation ability;

8. The graduates should be equipped with the ability of life-long learning, and the initiative ability of learning the latest concepts, models and techniques in order to keep their professional ability evolved.
