Program Highlights

This major aims at nurturing the senior practice-oriented personnel with solid mathematical foundation and strong ability of logical thinking. They can systematically master the basic theories, specialized knowledge and basic skills of modern physics technology. They can get the preliminary scientific research and technological development training. The strong spirit of innovation and practical abilities will make them suitable for working in the fields of “low dimensional physics” or “physical and application information” and other related technology fields. The students can be engaged in scientific research, teaching, technology development and other related management work in the above fields.

Program Description

The students of this major mainly study basic theories and methods in applied physics. They lay a solid mathematical foundation and have strong experimental skills. Besides, they are treated with systematic scientific experiment and thinking training. Meanwhile, they have fine scientific literacy and good practical ability, meeting requirements of the high-technology development. Furthermore, they have a strong ability to update their knowledge and show broader science adaptability and certain innovation ability.

The graduates should acquire the following quality, knowledge and abilities:

1. The graduates should have the sense of justice and responsibility and have the independent personality of loving science and pursuing truth;

2. The graduates should possess the independent learning and self-improvement awareness and ability;

3. The graduates should grasp the basic principles and basic knowledge of the applied physics systematically; they should have a solid mathematical foundation, good humanities and social sciences foundation; they should master a foreign language proficiently;

4. The graduates should obtain the experimental ability of modern physics and applied physics and receive good engineering practice training in related fields;

5. The graduates should be familiar with the latest progress and development trends of the professional field;

6. The graduates should know the general principles and knowledge of the relevant professional fields;

7. The graduates should master the basic method of data query and literature retrieval by using the modern information technology and have certain ability of scientific research and practical work.
