College of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanic

The College of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics was founded in January 2004. It was developed from the original Department of Engineering Mechanics and Technology with the goal to meet the rapid development to the country's aeronautic and astronautic industry by giving full play of the comprehensive advantages of cross-disciplines and human resources.

Among the 87 staff members of the college, there are 18 professors and 30 associate professors.

The College has a number of research and teaching institutes, namely, the Institute of Modern Mechanics Testing Technology, Institute of Material and Engineering Statistics Simulation, Institute of Wind Engineering and Mechanics, Institute of Applied Mechanics, Institute of Compound Material and Structure, Institute of Aircraft Manufacture and Design, Institute of Navigation Guidance and Control, Teaching Research Center of Basic Mechanics and the Laboratory of Basic Mechanics.

Presently the College offers two undergraduate programs in Engineering Mechanics and Aircraft Manufacture Engineering. Another two undergraduate programs of Aircraft Design and Engineering and Navigation Guidance and Control will be launched soon. The College has a first-class doctoral degree program of mechanics, including five second-class doctoral degree programs and master's degree programs, namely Basic Mechanics, Solid Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Mechanics, Aeronautic and Astronautic Materials and Design, and the postdoctoral mobile station of mechanics, with the Engineering Mechanics as a state key discipline. Besides, the Laboratory of Solid Mechanics, a key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, and Tongji University Center of Space Technology also belong to the college.
