School of Electronic Information Engineering

The School of Electrical Engineering of BeiHang University(originally Department of Electronic Engineering) is of the earliest department of aeronautic electronic engineering founded in China, which has a history of 46 years.

1956, Founded the Major of Aeronautic Radio

1958, Founded the Department of aeronautic Radio

1978, Authorized to offer Master¡¯s Degree

1980, Renamed as the Department of Electrical Engineering

1986, Authorized to offer Ph.D. Degree on Communication and Electronic Systems

1999, Enrolled the first post-doctoral research fellow

2002, Founded the School of Electrical Engineering

The School of Electrical Engineering covers five first class disciplines and consists of three departments which are Department of Information and Communication Engineering, Department of Electronic Science and Technology and Department of Photonics and Information Engineering, respectively. It composes of more than ten multidiscipline research laboratories and centers including a national open laboratory for electronic system and measurement-control technology, an key avionics laboratory of aviation ministry, a teaching center of experiment and practice, GPS research center, BUAA-Angilent electronic R&D center, Ansoft-BUAA training center and Willim C.Y. Li communication R&D center, etc.

The school involves two fields of the first class disciplines which are information and Communication Engineering and Transportation Engineering. Five Ph.D. programs, ten Master of Science programs, 2 post-doctoral programs, and seven majors for Bachelor are provided.

The school has 100 faculty and staff members, including 26 professors and 40 associate professors, where 17 professors are doctoral supervisors.

The school has already cultivated more than 7000 undergraduates, graduates, doctors and post- doctoral fellows, The number of the students in campus is 1400 for undergraduate students and more than 600 for Master and Ph.D candidates.

Long term academic exchanges, joint laboratories and contracted projects were established and performed with reputed universities, research institutes and industries in China and abroad.
