External Review Committee Visits SAIF

On 30th March 2014, External Review Committee paid a visit to SAIF. Zhang Jie, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), Jin Xingming, Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Municipal Government and Vice Chairman of the Board of Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF), Lin Zhongqin, Deputy President of SJTU, and Yang Jie, Director of Strategic Planning Office of SJTU, attended the meeting and listened to the feedback from External Review Committee.

The chairman of External Review Committee, Prof. Franklin Allen, who’s also Nippon Life Professor of Finance and Professor of Economics at The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania and former President of American Finance Association, fully affirmed the achievements on its faculty recruitment, academic research, talent cultivation, and education facilities in the past five years since its establishment, and further put forward constructive advices on how to achieve the goals of building a first-rate international finance school.

Zhang Jie then pointed out that during its development of over 100 years, SJTU has made excellent progress on hardware construction, but it is still deficient on software construction compared to first-rate international schools. SJTU is strongly promoting international reviews for all the schools in order to create a more internationalized campus culture and atmosphere. Zhang Jie also said that SAIF is the first school of SJTU to conduct an international review in 2014, and the university will fully support its internationalized education, providing favorable conditions for its sustainable development. Zhang Jie expressed his sincere gratitude on the hard work of External Review Committee as well, and presented Certificates of Appreciation to the committee members.

Jin Xingming expressed his gratitude to the committee members for their advices on behalf of Shanghai Municipal Government. He also pointed out that this review has a significant meaning for SAIF, SJTU and Shanghai Municipal Government. He expected that SAIF can make a sound plan for future development based on this review.
