In 1912, the front body of Henan University, Henan Preparatory School for the Study in Europe and America, was founded on the former site of Gongyuan, the examination office of Qing Dynasty in the ancient city of Kaifeng, which at that time enjoyed the equal fame with Beijing Tsinghua College (the Tsinghua University now), and the Shanghai Nanyang High School (the Shanghai Jiaotong University now) as China’s biggest three training bases for students studying abroad. In 2007, under the permission of the government of Henan Province, the Henan University, with its brilliant history, inherited the spirit of running the school open, and established its institution running under Chinese-Foreign cooperation—the Eurasian International College.

The Eurasian International College is a new type of affiliated colleges, established in the aim of deepening the reform, opening wider to the outside world, and accelerating the internationalization of education. The main missions of the college are to vigorously introduce the excellent foreign educational resources; fully absorb the advanced foreign educational concepts; run school with foreign universities cooperatively; broaden the training methods for people with ability; develop the cultivation level and international competence of people with ability; and jointly cultivate the internationalized talents with high quality and applied competence.

The number of the teaching and administrative staff is 21 ant there are 1100 students in the Eurasian International College now. During the past two years, there are more than 60 students in total leaving for Russia, South Korea, and Singapore for further study.

The Eurasian International College has set up such majors as artistic designing, music performance (vocal music and instrumental music), nursing, broadcasting and hosting, public administration, tourism management, architectural engineering technology, and preschool education.

Overseas universities that have carried out cooperation with the Eurasian International College are: Saint Petersburg State University, Herzen University, South federation State University, Repin Academy of Fine Arts, Toula Portokalos National University, Glen Music Institute, Moscow State University of Russia; Deakin University of Australia; Worcester University, Cardiff University of the United Kingdom, Yeungnam University, Dankook University, Hansung University of South Korea; and Nanyang Polytechnic of Singapore.
