School of Internet of Things Engineering

School of Internet of Things Engineering (IOT Engineering) is incorporated by School of Communications and Control Engineering and School of Information Engineering, featured with comprehensive and interdispline advantage of information with electric engineering.

The school possesses one post-doctoral program center (Control Science and Engineering), two doctoral programs (Control Theory and Control Engineering; Light Industry Information Technology and Engineering), two key master programs (Control Science and Engineering which includes the following five sub-disciplinary master programs: Control Theory and Control Engineering, Testing Technology and Automation Devices, System Engineering, Pattern Recognition and Intelligent System, and Navigation Guidance and Control; Computer Science and Technology including the following three sub-master programs: Computer Application Technology, Computer Software and Theory, and Computer Structure); and five other sub-master programs (Power Electronics and Power Transmission, Signal and Information Processing, Microelectronics and Solid Electronics, Electric Machine and Electrical Appliance, Printing Engineering and Media Technology) as well as five engineering master programs (Control Engineering, Computer Technology, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, and Integrated Circuit Engineering). Among them, Control Theory and Control Engineering is awarded as key discipline of Jiangsu Province in the "Eleventh Five-Year Program".

There are eight undergraduate majors: Automation, Computer Science and Technology, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Microelectronics, Electronics and Information Engineering, Communication Engineering, Information Security Engineering, and Printing Engineering, of which the major of Automation is awarded as national special major; Computer Science and Technology and Electrical Engineering and Automation are awarded as special majors in Jiangsu Province. Besides the school owns a key laboratory of the National Ministry of Education renowned for “Advanced Control in the process of Light Industry”. The school now has more than 3,000 undergraduate students and more than 700 Ph.D candidates and master candidates; every year about 800 full-time undergraduates and ful-time 260 Ph.D and master candidates are recruited.

School of IOT Engineering ie staffed with high qualified faculty and reasonable echelon structure: 1 Changjiang scholar, 23 professors (of whom 12 doctoral supervisors) and 61 associate professors. 35%of faculty are awarded doctoral degrees and one of them is honored national outstanding teacher; five of them New Century Excellent Talents by Ministry of Education; two honored special government allowances; several teachers entitled "333" Engineering Talents and "Blue Project" key teachers in Jiangsu Province. Teachers in School of IOT Engineering blaze new trails in pioneering spirits and forge ahead with determination, integrating the advantages of the school and the region. They undertake more than 100 research programs such as National 863 Program, National Natural Science Fund, National Programs for Science and Technology Development, and provincial and ministerial research programs. The honors and awards about provincial and ministerial scientific researches totals more than 50 ones. As for annual research funds it exceeds RMB30 million. More than 300 dissertations are published in SCI, EI, ISPP every year and many nation-advanced and valuable results have been achieved, some of which even have reached international advanced level, resulting in abundant social and economic efficiency.

With the goal of serving for the development of Light Industry and local economy and oriented towards the market, the school is making efforts to cultivate innovative personnel with high quality in the field of light industry, such as light industry and chemical technology, biological fermentation, food industry and the Internet of Things industry. At present, there is the electrical and electronic experimental demonstration teaching centre sponsored by Jiangsu Province, the key laboratory of energy saving and controlling technique for industrial equipments of Wuxi city, the Internet of Things demonstration center of Wuxi, the creative base for practice of students from Jiangnan University majoring in electrical and information, and many corporate-joint built laboratories in the school. Besides, the school has been cooperating with many well-known enterprises, and has established a variety of scholarships and grants to encourage students to participate in technological innovations. And her first-class teaching resources and research conditions fully insure personnel cultivation and scientific research. Her students have won prizes in many extracurricular scientific contests such as, “Challenge Cup” match for national university students, mathematical modeling, electronic and robot design contest, ACM programming contest, smart car design contest and process control simulation challenge contest, etc. Some student got the first prize in the internet knowledge competition for university students in Jiangsu Province and some have won the national firt prizes in the national mathematical modeling contest for times, for instance, the highest prize in that contest in 2006 – “Higher Education Cup”. The school has made policies of “recommended students by interviewing test for master degree” and “outstanding postgraduate students for Ph.D in advance”. There are approximately 70 undergraduate students having been recommended to pursue their master degree in the following universities: Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, South-east China University, etc. and Jiangnan university. Apart from that, the school has set forth exchange programs with relevant foreign institutions.

As is well known to all, Wuxi is the center of the “Sensing China” of the Internet of Things approved by the State Council, meanwhile, is the demonstration center of the innovation of the national Internet of Things. And the wireless networking of the Internet of Things is the most competitive industry which has a large demand for personnel with relevant professional and technological knowledge. Automation--- automation of industrial electrical equipment and production process.
(National Construction Model Base): The aim of this major is to enable students to have a good command of professional knowledge of fields, such as, theories and techniques of electronic and automatic control and computer application, etc. Students will be accessed to their speciality so that they will become advanced engineering and technical personnel able to engage in the design, analysis and operation of systems.

Students will receive a comprehensive training of key theories and basic skills, principles of hardware and software technology in various disciplines.
