School of Food Science &Technology

The School of Food Science and Technology (SFST) at Jiangnan University (formerly Southern Yangtze University or Wuxi University of Light Industry) was established in 1952, and it is located in Wuxi, a city 130 kilometers northwest of Shanghai.

The School awarded the first Bachelor degree in the field of Food Science & Technology in 1958, and then started graduate education program in the early 1960s, and launched a Doctoral program in 1984. Currently, the School of Food Science & Technology offers three undergraduate programs, including (1) Food Science & Technology, (2) Food Safety & Quality Control, and (3) Animal Science, with a total number of over 100 faculties, 1400 undergraduate students and 600 graduate students.

The Food Science program at Jiangnan University is the oldest program of food science & technology and the leader of food science research and education in China. In 2007, our Food Science and Technology program was certified as the National Key Research and Educational program by the Ministry of Education of China .

In 2009, our program was ranked nationally as No.1 in the field of Food Science & Technology by the Ministry of Education of China.
