• Guidelines for Foreign Student Registration

Before Beginning the Following Procedures, Please Prepare the Following Materials
3 copies of passport photo page (each on a full sheet of A4 paper)
2 copies of passport visa entry page, including the stamp received at immigration upon entry
(both on a full sheet of A4 paper)
8 passport size photos

Registration Procedures
 
The International Student Office process for student registration. Students first register with the International Student Office, and then register with their own colleges.
 
WHEN:February 24, 2011 (Thursday ) through February 25, 2011 (Friday)
                  8:00-11:00 a.m., 13:30-16:30 p.m.
WHERE:International Student Office
      NENU Administration Building (行政楼), Room 624.
 
NEW STUDENTS should bring the following:
1. Admission Notice
2. JW202 form / JW201 form
3. One copy of Admission Notice
4. One copy of JW202 form / JW201 form
5. Passport
6. One copy of passport photo page (on a full sheet of A4 paper)
7. One copy of passport entry visa page including the stamp received at immigration upon entry (on a full sheet of A4 paper)
8. 8 passport-size photos
9. Tuition payment
10. Degree Students: inquire at International Student Office about other materials which must be presented (i.e. diplomas, transcripts, etc.)
 
CONTINUING STUDENTS should bring the following: 
1. Passport
2. One copy of passport photo page (on a full sheet of A4 paper)
3. One copy of passport entry visa page including the stamp received at immigration upon entry (on a full sheet of A4 paper)
4. NENU student ID
5. Current Changchun telephone number and Changchun residential address
6. Tuition payment

Tuition
All students will be required to pay tuition in RMB according to the schedule.
 
Class Permit Card
After tuition is paid, students will be issued a class permit card which they must present when they register at the school and when they begin attending class.
 
Medical Care and Insurance
 The school will provide free medical insurance for long-term students, provided they pay tuition before March 25, 2011.  For more information, please contact the International Student Office.
 
Registration and Class Placement at the Colleges
 College of Overseas Education
WHEN:        Tuesday, March 1  at  8:30 a.m.
WHERE:      School of Overseas Education (Shixun Building 12thfloor)
BRING:       Class Permit Card and about 200 RMB for textbooks

Students will take part in placement testing after registration. After being notified of class placement, students may purchase the appropriate textbooks. Classes officially begin on Wednesday, March 2 .
 College of Litereture
WHEN:        Wednesday, March 2
WHERE:      School of Litereture
BRING:       Class Permit Card and about 200 RMB for textbooks

 Other Colleges
The International Student Office will arrange for students when they register.
 
Medical Exam
WHO: All newly enrolled students who have an X visa or are applying for a residence permit longer than 6 months.
WHEN: Wednesday, March 2 at 13:00.
WHERE: Meet in front of the International Students’ Dormitory. NENU personnel will take everyone to the International Travel Health Care Center to have this required medical exam.
BRING:       
1. passport
2. 1 copy of passport(on a full sheet of A4 paper)
3. 1 copy of passport visa page including the stamp received at immigration upon entry (on a full sheet of A4 paper)
4. 1 passport-size colour photo with red background
5. Results of medical exam conducted in home country (if applicable)
6. 60-300 RMB to cover the cost of the exam
 
Cost for a complete exam is 255 RMB. Cost of confirming medical exam results conducted in another country is 60 RMB. If some items are deemed missing or unacceptable, students will be required to have the designated portion of the exam conducted here and pay accordingly.

Note: The results of this medical exam will be submitted to the Public Security Bureau (PSB) in order to obtain students’ residence permits. The forms will remain on file at the PSB.
 
Accommodation Registration
New students living off campus and Returning students who have changed their off- campus residential address must complete the Accommodation Registration Form for Foreign Nationals and be personally present with their landlords to register at local police office. The Accommodation Registration Form for Foreign Nationals can be obtained from the International Student Office.

1. Passport
2. 3 completed copies of the Accommodation Registration Form for Foreign Nationals
3. One copy of passport photo page (on a full sheet of A4 paper)
4. One copy of passport entry visa page including the stamp received at immigration upon entry (on a full sheet of A4 paper)
5. 1 passport size photo

The International Student Office will arrange for students living on campus to go through the registration process as follows:

2. 3 completed copies of the Accommodation Registration Form for Foreign Nationals
3. One copy of passport photo page (on a full sheet of A4 paper)
4. One copy of passport entry visa page including the stamp received at immigration upon entry (on a full sheet of A4 paper)
5. 1 passport size photo
 
Visa Procedures
NENU’s International Student Office will process visas and residence permits for new students as part of their initial registration procedures. The International Student Office will also assist continuing students with extensions or changes to visas and/or residence permits during the following time period:

Important Note: 
The cost for an American to apply for or extend a residence permit will be 400RMB; the cost for an American to apply for or extend or change to any other type of visas will be 940RMB.
Students must be personally present at the Public Security Bureau when Northeast Normal University submits their application for a residence permit. The International Students’ Office will take students to the Public Security Bureau on March 9, at 12:30 p.m.(meet in front of International Students’ Dormitory).

Students are responsible
to monitor their own visas and residence permits
and ensure that they renew them or leave China before they expire.
To complete any of these procedures, students must go to the International Student Office and request a Letter of Introduction. Then they must take the Letter of Introduction and the materials listed in the table above to the Changchun City Public Security Bureau for processing.

IMPORTANT NOTE!
Passports and student ID’s will be returned according to the following schedule:
Friday, March 25, at the International Student Office in the Administration Building, Room 624.
Students who do not pick up their passports at the times listed above will be held personally responsible for any resulting negative consequences.
 
Internet Registration
WHERE: The first floor of International Students’ Dormitory
BRING: Class Permit Card or Student ID
Necessary for students who want to use the university internet.
 
Library Card
WHERE: Room 122 , Library Building
BRING: Student ID,1 passport size phono and a deposit of 200RMB
COST:   15RMB
