School of Journalism and Information Communication



The School of Journalism & Information Communication (SJIC) at HUST is originated in 1983 from the Journalism Department at Huazhong Institute of Technology and has been a pioneer in running journalism and communication programs in those Institutes of Technology in China. In 1988, The School of Journalism & Communication at HUST was founded. SJIC sticks to its educational guideline of “Practice-oriented, Arts and Science Integrated”. Through 26 years’ efforts by several generations, SJIC has been built into a top-ranking school in journalism and communication, which has formed a complete cultivation system for advanced professional talents in this field. SJIC provides four undergraduate programs, i.e. print media, broadcasting, advertising and communication. With the postgraduate programs, SJIC offers the Masters of Arts in Journalism, Radio & Television Journalism, Advertising & Public Relations and Communication, and the Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) in Journalism, Communication and Radio & Television Journalism. SJIC has a national post-doctoral research center of journalism & communication, an opened teaching center with advanced and integrated equipment and a provincial key research base in arts and humanity named Center of Media Technology and Communication Development. Presently, SJC has a faculty of over 50 and has over 1000 full-time students. The current dean is Prof. Zhang Kun.
