Huazhong University of Science and Technology is a key comprehensive university under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education of China. Among the schools of the University, there is a young and prosperous member – the School of Foreign Languages.

The School has an excellent faculty well-distributed over a broad set of research concerns, including 16 professors, 65 associate professors and 106 lecturers. Faculty and staff of the School totals 214.

We offer degree programs of Bachelor of Arts in English, Bachelor of Arts in Japanese, Bachelor of Arts in German, Master of Arts in Linguistic and Applied Linguistics, Master of Arts in English Language and Literature and Master of Arts in Japanese Language and Literature. We are also in the process of applying for authorization to offer the BA in German program and the PhD in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics program. In addition, we deliver courses in French and Russian.

The Foreign Language Training & Testing Center of the School offers a variety of programs for government organizations and businesses for their employee development. It is also the authorized testing center for international standard tests for English, Japanese or German language, such as TOEFL, GRE, JLPT, TOPIK, BFT and etc. The school boasts state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and research, including dozens of first-class multimedia language classrooms and a modern language self-learning center. A number of well-known language education broadcasting programs are received by our satellite system and able to be introduced to the language classes. Moreover, our library with a holding of more than 20,000 volumes and over 50 periodicals, Institute of Foreign Language Education, Institute of Computer-aided Foreign Language Teaching & Learning, Institute of Foreign Literature, the Institute of Foreign Languages, Institute of Translation & Interpretation, Institute of Cross-culture Communication, Institute of Japanese Culture and Institute of German Culture, and the Video Studio provide remarkable resources for our teaching and research.
