Welcome to our department. We are pleased to have you visiting our website and to share some information about our department with you. In 1953, the former Huazhong Institute of Technology established, and the staff room of political economics was founded. In 1981, the former Huazhong Institute of Technology established the economic research institute. In 1983, the former Huazhong Institute of Technology established economic and management engineering major. In 1985, the former Huazhong Institute of Technology established economic and management engineering school, which consisted of the Department of Economics, Quantitative Economics, Department of Management Engineering and Department of Sociology. In 1988, the former Huazhong Institute of Technology set up the Economic Development Research Center. In April 1994, the Economic and Management School of the former Huazhong Institute of Technology was founded respectively, and the School of Economics consisted of the former Department of Economics, Quantitative Economics and the Economic Development Research Center. In June 2000, the former Huazhong Institute of Technology, Tongji Medical University and Wuhan Urban Construction Institute formed a new university, which was renamed Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
