Students Receiving M.S. in International Business Degree Began Their Study at Lingnan College


After 4 months studying in America in the program jointly run by McIntire School of Commerce, University of Virginia (USA), Lingnan (University) College, Sun Yat-sen University (China), and ESADE Business School (Spain), the students began their second station: Lingnan, Guangzhou.

On the chilly morning of January 9th, Lingnan welcomed the 60 students from 15 countries around the world, who will be spending 9 weeks in Guangzhou. Guests who attended the welcome ceremony included Professor Zhang Bin, Associate Dean of Lingnan College; Associate Professor Liu Heng, Academic Director of the M.S. in International Business program; Ms. Wang Tingting, Assistant Professor of Lingnan College; Ms. Yu Xiuli, Associate Director of Career Development Center; Ms. Liang Geng, Associate Director of International Relations Office; Professor Trey Maxham, Associate Dean of Graduate Programs, McIntire School of Commerce; and Professor Frank Wiengarten, Academic Director, ESADE Business School Associate. The ceremony was moderated by Assistant Professor Wang Tingting.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Professor Zhang Bin extended his warmest welcome to the students. He then told the historical story of Lingnan College, and expressed his hope that the students could remember Lingnan spirit and be the social leaders in the future. Professor Liu Heng introduced the Lingnan culture and course outline to the students. Ms. Yu Xiuli of the Career Development Center talked about the upcoming lectures on career development and job fair. Professor Trey Maxham reviewed the courses and activities during their stay in the U.S., while Professor Frank Wiengarten provided an outlook of their Spanish journey in mid-March.

The ceremony
 
At the end of the ceremony, all the students rose to sing the College Anthem, which was quite novel to them. That afternoon, they toured around the campus in the light rain. Over the next two months, they will continue their unique experience in Lingnan College.
