College of International Culture

 The College of International Culture which grew out of the Chinese Language and Culture centre is one of the 24 colleges in South China Normal University. It is a professional organization responsible for Chinese language and Chinese culture propagation to the overseas students. It is one of the first "Chinese Cultural Propagation and Inheritance Base" assigned by Guangdong Government Overseas Affairs Office and Guangdong Education Department. Up to now, it has trained thousands of overseas students from over 60 countries in 5 continents.

There are over 30 experienced and qualified Chinese teachers at our college. All of them hold the certificate of TCSL (teaching Chinese as a second language) and most of them have got Ph..D . There is a modern teaching building with a library and a Chinese self-study access centre. Furthermore, a 13-story apartment building with ideal living conditions is provided for the overseas students with good amenities.

The college offers a range of cooperated programs, including Guangdong and Hong Kong educational exchange program, Mandarin teachers training for Hong Kong primary and secondary schools, Youth Mandarin Test and related courses, and Chinese teachers training, etc.

The college provides academic education (including Bachelor, Master and Doctor degrees) and Chinese language courses.

(1).Chinese language and culture (Bachelor degree): It includes three majors: Chinese language and culture, teaching and business Chinese. Our goal is: "We enhance the professional talents (Chinese teachers, interpreters and specialized commercial personnel) with good Chinese understanding and expression." They can master Chinese knowledge and skills completely, understand the condition and culture of China and use the Chinese language to work freely in certain fields.

(2).Chinese language training: We provide long term and short term training. The long term training classes include primary, middle and advanced levels, and the short term training covers Summer and Winter Camps, Cantonese, Chinese fast-learning courses, and 1 to 1 tutoring. The compulsory courses are: Chinese Comprehensive Training, Listening and Speaking, Reading Comprehension, Readings in Newspapers and Periodicals, News listening comprehension, Chinese Composition, Advanced Chinese and the Culture of China, etc. Optional courses are: HSK (primary, middle and advanced levels), Cantonese, Business Chinese, Chinese Handwriting, Chinese Numeral Input(typing Chinese with numbers), Taiji, Chinese Kongfu, Pronounciation Training, Chinese Music, and Calligraphy, etc.
