DUT 2011 Chinese Government Scholarship

Ⅰ. Introduction on Government Scholarship
● Quotas and Categories
Dalian University of Technology (DUT) will offer the Chinese Government Scholarship for 43 full-time doctor or master degree students in 2011 (not including majors on literature and arts in other than Chinese).

● Qualifications
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
2. Applicants must be students who study in foreign countries.
3. Education background and age limit:
a. Applicants for master degree programs must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.
b. Applicants for doctor degree programs must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.

● Details of the Scholarship
1. Exempt from registration fee, tuition, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, fee for basic learning materials and accommodation on campus;
Note:
a. Costs of the laboratory experiment or internship beyond the university’s arrangements should be paid by the student himself.
b. Fee for basic learning materials covers the necessary learning materials prescribed by the host institution, and other materials should be at self expenses.
2. Monthly allowance is offered as followings:
 Master Degree Students: 1,700 RMB/month
 Doctor Degree Students: 2,000 RMB/month
3. One-off settlement subsidy for new students after upon arrival in China;
 1,500 RMB for new students will study in China for one academic year or more.
4. Fee for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China;
5. Applicants are expected to pay for their own international travel expenses unless it is set otherwise in bilateral agreements or arrangements.

● Regulations on Duration of Study
1. All the master programs are instructed in Chinese in principle. Applicants with no command of Chinese are generally required to take Chinese language courses for one year before starting their academic programs. After passing the examination, they can take the academic programs. The duration of scholarship for applicants with the remedial Chinese course will be extended for one year.
2. Doctor programs can be instructed in English.
3. The duration of master programs is 3 years, and of doctor programs is 3-4 years. Duration for scholarship specified at the time of admission cannot be extended in principle.

Ⅱ. Application Procedures and Time
The applicants shall submit the application forms and materials to School of International Cultural Exchanges, DUT from December 1st,2010 to March 15th, 2011.
The applicants must fill in and provide the following materials truly and correctly (in duplicate):
1. The applicants for Chinese Government Scholarship should fill in the online application and print the application form and sign it after submitting it online. The CSC Online Application System for Study in China is available at     http://laihua.csc.edu.cn
Note:
When you fill in the online application, ①Agency No. of DUT is 10141 ②Item 5. b) “Subject or Field of Study in China”, please fill in the majors or subjects which are listed in the DUT Master/Doctor Degree Programs. (Refer to Attachments)
For applicants who apply for doctor programs can also submit Application Form for Liaoning Government Scholarship at the same time.
2. Highest diploma (notarized photocopy). If applicants are university students or already employed, they shall also provide studying certificates or employment documents. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
3. Transcripts. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
4. A study or research plan in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words). Please explain on the major or research field you would like to study at DUT.
5. Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors from the university which applicants graduated.
6. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (applicants should keep the original one) filled in English. It is printed by Chinese quarantine authority and only for those whose period of studies in China lasts up to six months. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. The medical examination results are valid for 6 month. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration while determining the time to take medical examination.
7. Photocopy of passport.
8. If the applicants have the HSK Certificates, please submit the photocopy of the HSK Certificates.
9. 6 pictures (3cm*4cm).
The applicants should submit the above documents to DUT directly.
 
Ⅲ. Admission Notice and Enrollment Time
The admission notice will be issued to the applicants at the end of June, 2011, and enrollment time will be September, 2011.
