Qingdao Liuting International Airport (TAO)

Qingdao Liuting International Airport is located in Chengyang District, Qingdao City, about 23 kilometers (about 14.3 miles) from the downtown area. Set up in 1958, Qingdao Liuting International Airport is one of the most important air transit centers in China. The airport is very modern featuring 3,400 meters (about 3,718 yards) of runway, 184,000 square meters (about 45.5 acres) of parking lot, and 50,000 square meters (about 12.4 acres) for the international terminal complex. At present there are 96 national and international airlines, serving 48 destinations both at home and abroad.

How Can I Get to My University from TAO?

SICAS Airport Pick-up Service
If you want to meet us at Qingdao International Airport, you can book an airport pick-up service with SICAS. At least 72 hours notice is required for booking the airport pick-up (Collection) service. You must include the following information on your application:

By Airport Shuttle Bus
Route 1: Airport – Haitian Hotel
Ticket Fare: CNY20
Single Journey (One-way): around 1 hour
Airport → Haitian Hotel: From the first flight’s arrival, the bus departs every 30 minutes via the North Coach Bus Station, Tiantaicheng, Donglicun, Haier Road, Shuangshan, Hongshanpo Housing District, Guangdian Building, the Maritime Geological Science Institute, No.25 middle School, Fushansuo, the World Trade Center.
Haitian Hotel → Airport: from 06:00 to 21:00 every 30 minutes via Fushansuo (CAAC Building) and Tiantaicheng.
Route 2: Airport – Xiehe Huatian Hotel
Ticket Fare: CNY15
Single Journey (One-way): around 80 minutes
Airport → Xiehe Huatian Hotel: The bus departs at 08:00 and 09:00, then hourly from 09:30 to 19:30. The route passes by Licunkou, the overpass (the Shandong Road), Sifang Long-distance Bus Station (Sifang Hotel), Jinshi 100 Hotel, Electronic Information Town (Dianzi Xinxi Cheng) located at the Liaoning Road, the Zhongshan Road (the Oriental Trading Building) and the Railway Station.
Xiehe Huatian Hotel → Airport: Hourly from 05:30 to 17:30 via Gongmao Hotel and Sifang Hotel.

Route 3: Airport – Sophia Hotel
Ticket Fare: CNY15
Single Journey (One-way): around 50 minutes
Airport → Sophia Hotel: Hourly from 07:20 to 18:20 every one hour via the Haier Road (East gate of Haier Industrial Zone), Zhonghan, Beicun, Liaoyang East Station, Yizhong Playground (Beer City) and the Exhibition Center.
Sophia Hotel → Airport: The first bus departs at 06:20, then every hour on the hour from 07:00 to 18:00, directly to the airport without stops.
By Taxi

 

The taxi fee is 9 RMB for the first 3 kilometers (2.5 miles) from 5:00 to 22:00, 1.4 RMB for every succeeding kilometer and RMB 1.8 for every succeeding kilometer after 6 kilometers. From 22:00 to 5:00 next day, the taxi fee is 9 RMB for the first 3 kilometers, 1.8 RMB per kilometer between 3 to 6 kilometers and 2.2 RMB after 6 kilometers. It costs about 80 RMB taking a taxi from Liuting Airport to downtown area.

The ferry can hold a population of more than 400 once
There are eight higher learning institutes including The China University of Petroleum, Shandong University of Science and Technology and Qingdao Technological University located in the renowned Qingdao Economic &Technical Development Zone. It is not only a national development zone with the largest quantity of higher learning institutions, but also an advanced culture zone of Shandong province. There are two ways to reach the national Development Zone, by ferry which is more comfortable and time-saving method or by the long distant bus. Most international students choose to take a ferry and you can also enjoy a pleasant journey while enjoying the wonderful sea view.

SICAS Reminder:

Ferry ships and speed boats run between Qingdao, Huangdao, and Xuejiadao. The fare ranges between 7 to 12 RMB depending upon destination and type of transportation. The ferry between Qingdao and Huangdao costs 7 RMB and takes approximately 30 minutes. The first ferry departs at 06:30 and the last at 21:00; ships operate every 30 minutes. Express ferries between Qingdao and Huangdao cost 9.5 RMB and take about 15 minutes. The first express ferry departs at 7:00 and the last at 18:20; boats operate every 20-30 minutes. Express ferries between Qingdao and Xuejiadao cost 12 RMB and take about 25 minutes. These boats operate between 07:15 to 11:00 and 13:00 to 18:15. Additional transport is available during busy seasons. Besides, there is a cross sea bridge under construction and is going to be finished by July 2011. The time of journey between Qingdao and Huangdao will be cut down to 20 minutes by the time.

Getting here and there


Public Bus

Because of its hilly terrain, few people use bicycles or motorcycles in the city. Consequently, the public bus is the main vehicle in Qingdao. Standard bus fare is 1 RMB; fare on an air-conditioned bus is 2 RMB.
Bus 317 runs along the coast, from west to east of the city passing through major sightseeing places such as the Zhan Bridge (Zhan Qiao) and Ba Da Guan (Eight Passes Villas).
By Train
 

The newly built Qingdao Railway Station
Currently, there are three railway stations in Qingdao City: Qingdao Railway Station, Sifang Railway Station and Cangkou Railway Station. Every day, there are thirty or so pairs of trains operating between Qingdao and other cities such as Beijing (about nine hours), Shanghai (about 19 hours), Guangzhou (about 28 hours), Wuchang, Nanchang, Xuzhou, Zhengzhou, Xian, Lanzhou, Xining, Chengdu, Taiyuan, Dandong, and also cities inside Shandong Province such as Jinan (four to six hours), Heze, Yantai (three and a half hours), Zibo (three to four hours), and Weihai. Except for trains to Zibo, Yantai and Weihai, trains stopover at Jinan.
