College of Mathematical Science

The College of Mathematical Sciences is dedicated to providing high quality mathematical instruction to students and promoting first-class research in pure and applied mathematics. The College is composed of two departments and equipped with one library and two computer laboratories, in which more than 100 computers are linked with the Internet through Campus Net. It is currently staffed with 60 faculty members, including 12 professors, four Ph. D. supervisors, and 13 associate professors. The total enrollment of undergraduate students and postgraduate students is around 90 and 400 respectively.

The research fields cover a wide range of mathematical sciences, including Partial Differential Equation, Functional Differential Equation, Dynamical System, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Mathematics, Combinatorics, Combinatorial Optimization, Functional Analysis, Optimization of System Control, Matrix Computations, and Numerical Methods for PDE, Mathematical Model and Numerical Simulation in Environmental Science and Oceanography.

The College offers two Bachelor’s Degree programs and four Master’s Degree programs. The Bachelor’s Degree programs in Mathematics & Applied Mathematics and Information & Computing Science are designed to make students understand the related fundamental knowledge, grasp general methods and appreciate the wide applications of mathematics. There are four advanced programs leading to Master’s Degree: Pure Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Operations Research & Cybernetics. The program of Applied Mathematics has been approved as one of the key disciplines by Shandong Provincial Government.

By offering a variety of comprehensive courses and programs, the College of Mathematical Sciences seeks to accommodate students’ varied interests in mathematics and encourage interdisciplinary focus and use of mathematics. The College is now prepared for further development in research and teaching and eagerly seeking students and researchers in the field of mathematics to join its pursuit of academic excellence.
