Cell Biology

Course Description

This course covers basic cell biology. Emphasis is on biological chemistry, cell structure and function, cellular metabolism, genetics, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate preparedness for college-level biology courses.Laboratory exercises focus on basic biological principles and microscope techniques. 

A study of cell structure and function, emphasizing the molecular components, metabolism, organelles, motility, and growth and division. The molecular biology of cells and the regulation of cellular processes are emphasized. Laboratory exercises will include light microscopy, molecular cellular experiments, and other experiments in cell biology (formerly Biology 307L). Prerequisites: Biology 152L and 153L. (1 1/4 course credits)

h. Nucleic acids and basic concepts of protein synthesis and gene regulation.

Degree Awarded

On completing the requirements of the teaching program and passing the graduation examinations successfully, international medical undergraduates will be granted a graduation certificate and conferred a medical degree by Huazhong University of Science and Technology if they meet the degree regulations of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The English copy of the degree will state MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).

Career 
After obtaining MBBS Degree, the graduates can apply to take the medical licensing examination in the medical council in order to get registered and practice medicine. According to the regulations in different countries, the students may need to do the degree accreditation first. A MBBS degree holder can find jobs in government as well as private hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities. Except this, one can also start his own clinic or pursue study for master's degree.
