1.Entry Visa International students, when coming to China, shall have and use legitimate passports and X visas (or F visas); if they enter China with other types of visa, the purposes of residence shall be changed after they arrive at ZSTU. 2.Handling and Transfer of Residence Permit International students, whatever kind of visas they hold when entering China, during their first 24-hour stay in China, shall get a temporary residence registration handled in local police stations, and apply for Residence Permit for Foreigners with valid certificates and other necessary materials within 30 days (those who have F visas are free from Residence Permit Application) The following shall be submitted for applying for residence permit: a. Visa and Residence Permit Application Form b. Passport c. Copies of passport, visa and entry seal d. JW202 Form or JW201 Form e. Admission Letter f. Registration Receipt issued by local police station g. Official Letter issued by ZSTU 3.Extension of Residence Permit International students shall, before the terms of validity of their residence permits or visas expire (at least 7 work days before the expiration date), with their own valid certificates and proofs issued by ZSTU, go to Hangzhou Municipal Exit-Entry Administration Division and get handled the extension of their residence permits or visas. Except for special cases, ZSTU, in principle, will not issue relevant proofs for the handling of extensions of residence permits or visas for those who will graduate or leave school at the end of the semester. Extensions of residence permits for international students shall be handled successively only in accordance with the duration of study, and in principle, it can not be extended to a date after international students complete their study. 4.Family Company In principle, ZSTU does not support that international students’ families come to accompany. In special cases, the families may stay in China with visas for visiting families, and their stays shall not be longer than the period of validity specified in the international students’ residence permit. 5.Passport In case international students lose their passports they shall immediately report to the police stations where they lose their passports, then receive ‘Proof for the Loss of Passport’ from Hangzhou Municipal Exit-Entry Administration Division, and apply for and receive new passports from their embassies or consulates in China. After that, they shall go to Hangzhou Municipal Exit-Entry Administration Division to get visas or residence permits handled. In case international students lose passports before they apply for temporary residence registration, they shall report to the entry ports, and receive ‘Proof of Entry’, and receive new passports from their embassies or consulates. After that, they shall go to the place where passports are lost or Hangzhou Municipal Exit-Entry Administration Division and get visas handled again. When their old passports are replaced after the expiry date, the international students shall report that to ZSTU International Students Office, and present copies of new passports, and go to Hangzhou Municipal Exit-Entry Administration Division to get the new residence permit. 6.Touring and Family Visiting When international students, during their study at ZSTU, travel abroad or to Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan for touring or family visiting purposes, they shall come back within the residence permit validity term. When international students, for special purposes, go to places in China which are not open to foreigners, they shall, with their own valid certificates and invitation letters issued by the visitee, or official letters issued by the party to receive, go to Hangzhou Municipal Exit-Entry Administration Division to apply for Aliens Travel Document. Aliens Travel Document shall be used in company with one’s passport. 7.Other Affairs International students themselves shall pay for the handling of residence permits, visas and the extensions. International students shall pay attention to the validity term of their residence permits or visas. Any consequences or responsibility arising from the failure to timely handle the extensions before the expiry of validity, shall fall on international students themselves. International students shall bring passports, residence permits or their copies anytime when going out.
